Classes

Here are some current requirements for classes:

Classes are limited to 4 people
Refund given if more than 3 days notice of cancelation

Most classes are 90 minutes long and cost $20, which doesn't include the cost of materials. Multi session classes may be higher. We require that you purchase yarn from our store for the class. Weaving is a longer class at 2 to 2 1/2 hours and costs $25, and we will sell or rent looms for you to use in class.

Money refunded for cancellations at least 3 days before the class for any of our classes.

Learn to Knit 2 - Cowl

Now that you know the basic knit stitch (required to take this class), learn to knit in the round and how to purl. Yarn needs to be purchased at YJC

Fair Isle headband

Learn fair isle knitting as you make this headband (or chicken hat if wanted). Come with the band completed so you can get right to the 2 color knitting. Must buy yarn from YJC.

Ranunculus

3 part class on Monday afternoons in January

$30 for all 3 sessions

Monday January 5, 12, 19th from 1:00-2:00pm Register Online

One of the most popular patterns on ravelry is the Ranunculus top. Can be made with either fingering or dk yarn for a light airy top. Learn top-down construction, lace work and more. Class limited to 10 people Must buy yarn from YJC.

Cocoknits Sweater Class - a 4-part sessions class

Saturdays January 10th, 17th, 31st and February 7th

mornings from 8am-9:30am

Learn to make a sweater using the Cocoknits method. Choose between the Molly (worsted weight) or the Emma (chunky weight yarn). You will need the Cocoknits book, colored stitch markers, yarn and needles depending on pattern chosen. This is a 4 session class and you must be able to make the first 2 to participate. Of course, we want you there for all 4 sessions.

Felted Slippers, 2-part class

Class fee $30

Wednesdays January 7 and 14 5:30-7pm Register Online

Using yarn that felts (100% wool) and larger needles, learn to make these warm winter slippers. We will start with the base and pick up stitches, doing short rows and fun techniques. Pattern available on Ravelry. Yarn must be purchased at YJC

Super Fast Mittens

Learn magic loop, thumb gusset as you make these mittens using super bulky yarn and size 10.5 - 32 inch needle. Yarn must be purchased at YJC

Basic Brioche Cowl

Learn the basics of brioche using 2 colors. please come to class with cast on 70 stitches with bulky yarn (ie Mecha) main color and size 11-24 needle and knit one round. Make sure your colors are very contrasting so you can see the pattern Yarn must be purchased at YJC

Tunisian Crochet

Learn the basic Tunisian stitch as you crochet. Must be able to do the basic crochet stitches prior to class. You will need one skein of Cumulus yarn (purchased at YJC) and a tunisian hook (available at YJC)

Learn to Crochet 1

Learn the basics of crocheting. Single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, slip stitch, chain. Must buy your yarn from YJC. This class is for ages 14 or older.

Crochet Blanket (Crochet 2)

Feb 21st 10.30-12pm Register Online

You will learn how to crochet in the round, making one big square, learning color changes as you go. You must know how to crochet to take this class.

For the class, you will need to have an I hook (can buy at YJC) and 2 different colors of either Cascade 220 superwash or Berroco Ultra Wool yarn for a total of 5 skeins (need to purchase from YJC)

Learn to Weave 1

Learn the basics of weaving with the cricket loom. We will teach you how to warp and weft in our 2 hour session. We offer looms for purchase or rental for the week after class. Ask about options when signing up for class. You will need 2 skeins of worsted weight yarn purchased at YJC.

Learn to Weave II

Sunday Feb 22nd 1.30-3pm Register Online

This class is for people who already have a rigid heddle loom and know how to do basic weaving. You will be doing a two color clasped weft project. You will need to pre-warp your loom 7" wide before class. Yarn must be purchased at YJC.
